Privacy
AuroraOdds has no accounts, ads or behavioural profiles. We use location only to produce the forecast you request.
Location and forecasts
Selected coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo for weather and timezone data. Unnamed map points are sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service for a nearby place name. The calculation always uses the selected coordinates, not the centre of that named place.
Issued forecasts are stored privately for model evaluation. A record can include coordinates, forecast and issue times, model version, space-weather inputs and weather clearly marked as observing context.
Optional sighting reports
If you answer a sighting question, we store the answer, rounded location, submission time and the forecast that was active. Live answers distinguish naked-eye, camera-only and no aurora.
A random token in your browser is converted server-side into a one-way identifier to limit duplicates; the raw token is not saved with reports. Live reports stop affecting the public nowcast after 90 minutes, but the private record is retained for calibration analysis. We do not ask for your name or email.
Stored in your browser
Your last place, theme and forecast receipt may be saved in localStorage on your device. AuroraOdds does not currently offer email alerts.
Coordinates and observation times can be sensitive. Contact hello@dddmaps.com with a privacy question.
